The first expedition ship from American Queen Voyages sails
The new, luxurious, 186-guest Ocean Victory will premiere in Alaska this month, offering a season of 11 and 12-night deep-nature experiences from May to September this year, as well as in 2023 and 2024. American Queen Voyages is best known for its paddlewheeler river cruises.
A variety of complimentary features, such as a pre-cruise hotel stay, all onboard meals, onboard beverages, full shore excursions, port costs, and ship gratuities, all add to the value.
The premium, eco-friendly Ocean Victory was designed for low-impact, high-comfort exploration in inaccessible locations, with a revolutionary design and swept-back X-bow that promises a smoother ride. It can explore secluded destinations that larger ships cannot reach.
The new, hi-tech, clean-fuel ship features a stunning, aft-facing infinity pool, two outdoor hot tubs, retractable over-water observation decks, two restaurants, panoramic lounge, library, fitness center, piano bar, and 93 luxury bedrooms, the majority with private balconies.
The Ocean Victory is equipped with Zodiac boats, kayaks, and a crew of naturalists, marine biologists, scientists, and historians. The cruise line has also partnered with Cal Poly, the Sound Science Research Collective, and Sitka Sound Science to bring experts and students onboard for daily talks and hands-on demonstrations. Guests can also listen to the magical sounds of humpback whales underwater thanks to onboard hydrophone equipment.
Between Vancouver, Canada, and Sitka, Alaska, American Queen Voyages will take fans of casual luxury and nature to isolated, less frequented settlements, as well as spectacular glaciers and animal sanctuaries.
The Russian-flavored island town of Sitka, the black bears, humpback whales, and bald eagles of Frederick Sound, the hiking, moose, and native Tlingit culture of Kake, the spectacular glaciers dropping into the fjords of Endicott and Tracy Arms, the pristine 'Little Norway' wilderness of Petersburg, the harbour village of Wrangell, the towering sea cliffs and waterfalls of Misty Fjords.
Throughout each cruise, a variety of complimentary beach and Zodiac excursions, as well as kayaking from the ship's own marine platform, will be available.
